In today’s digital world, where instant previews and high-resolution cameras dominate, the timeless beauty of film photography is making a strong comeback. Especially when it comes to weddings, film photography adds a level of depth and nostalgia that digital simply can’t replicate. As an Austin wedding film photographer, I specialize in blending both digital and film mediums to create a wedding gallery that feels both modern and timeless.

Film photography has an undeniable magic. Not only does it capture light differently, but it also produces colors and textures that feel more organic. While digital images can sometimes appear too sharp or overly processed, film photographs exude warmth, softness and almost an ethereal quality.

If you are planning a wedding in Austin and want a mix of film and digital photography, I would love to capture your special day in a way that feels authentic, timeless, and meaningful. By combining both mediums, I provide a wedding gallery filled with editorial-styled digital photos and documentary, cinematic film images. These two mediums combined create cherished heirlooms.
As an Austin wedding film photographer, I have experienced with the film format, including understanding exposure, settings, film stocks, desired tones, and adequate scanning and processing to maintain quality. Since I regularly shoot 35mm film and Super 8 film video, I ensure that my couples receive the best of both worlds — convenient digital images paired with the artistic beauty of film.
Although film photography is beautiful, it also requires skill and expertise. Film requires understanding and knowledge of lighting, exposure, and composition. Hiring a photographer with experience shooting film is crucial.

Every one of my wedding collections includes a film photography component, ranging from one to three or more rolls of film. Each roll typically results in 24-36 film photographs, which are professionally developed, scanned, and added to your online gallery alongside your digital images. This means you receive both modern digital photography and the timeless artistry of film.

Having a component of film photography in your wedding photographs can create a storytelling cinematic experience. If you are interested in including film in your wedding experience, let’s connect! Reach out today to learn more about my hybrid approach to wedding photography.
